Dreary Winter Movies

By RodneyHatfieldJr for Movies

We in the northern hemisphere are stuck in the dreaded January drag (unless you live in the southern hemisphere, and we hate you). Cold, nasty dreadful weather every day continues until spring. Out of all the months, January is the longest. Where other months consist of 28 to 31 days, January is different. January is 147 days of snow, depression, slush, vitamin D deficiency, and ice. Don’t ask me why January is so long, it’s just science.

All jokes aside, January does feel long because it is peak winter (unless you live in the southern hemisphere, and we really do hate you). The best way to trudge through the knee-high snow with freezing winds is to curl up and watch a movie. There is a huge list of winter horror films we all love. But where is the fun of listing movies we all know? For you, I have braved the bitter cold of winter to bring you a group of films you may not know about. A good mishmash of winter-themed movies. I hope I turn you onto a new hidden gem. Naturally, these films are in no way, shape, or form in any particular order. And we don't really hate our friends in the southern hemisphere. It's just the winter blues. but we do hope your ice melts fast in your drinks.

Curtains 1983

Samantha Sherwood has worked with the well-known director Jonathan Stryker on all his major films. She naturally assumes she has been given the title role in his latest venture, "Audra". He tells her that she needs to do some background research on the part, so arranges to have her committed to an asylum (as Audra is a former psychiatric patient). She goes along with this, not realizing that he intends to leave her there indefinitely and audition six young women of various professions for the part instead. She finally manages to escape and returns to the spooky old mansion where the auditions are taking place. But who is causing the disappearances of the young hopefuls? Is it Samantha? Stryker? Or is one of the actresses willing to kill for the part? Just who is the killer behind the old-hag mask?
