Kino Cult: a Free Cult Classics Streaming Service

By RodneyHatfieldJr for Movies

I love free streaming. I think it comes from my childhood where I owned an old Short-wave radio and listen to all the different stations from around the world. I remember creating a large makeshift antenna and being able to listen to stations in Africa. Fun and educational in the Beforetimes(before the internet).

Starting on October 1st, Kino Lorber has partnered with Giant Pictures to launch Kino Cult, the new free ad-supported streamer for lovers of horror and cult films. Featuring hours of theatrically released films all in High Definition. They say they will be adding new titles monthly. The service will be on the web, mobile devices, and connected TVs, with VOD apps on all major devices: Roku, Amazon Fire, Apple TV, Google TV, iOS, Android.

Films I have scanned is a healthy dose of art house, Drive-in, 70-80s cheese, documentary, classic, and more. They even have a nice selection of Grind House, which I will be checking out in High Definition.  Giant Pictures, a leader in the Free Ad-Supported (FAST) channels space, is the technology partner for Kino Cult, responsible for the device apps, channel distribution, and ad-tech in the new venture.

An expansion to the library is also planned, to include more genre greatness from other venerated cult labels like American Genre Film Archive, Code Red, Scorpion Releasing, Severin Films, Something Weird, and Vinegar Syndrome, in addition to the current offerings from Kino Lorber partners Artsploitation Films, Palisades Tartan, Raro Video, and Redemption Films.
