Re-Elected Drops June 29

In America, the 4th of July is one of the biggest holidays of the year. Not because it is our Nations's birthday or some significant reason that happened 2 centuries ago. It is because it is a national holiday in the summer with explosives, grilling, and copious amounts of alcohol. The celebration is measured not in fellowship or enjoyment, but in how many people went to jail or the hospital. Unless 10% of the guests get arrested or have fingers/toes blown off; can you really declare your 4th of July celebration successful.

For such a highly anticipated and popular celebration, we have very few horror movies with this particular theme. Cue Re-Election. Why attend a 4th of July party to watch fireworks when you could be sitting in front of the TV? Instead of the risk of losing your hearing and getting eaten by mosquitos while you eat barbecue, you could be checking out Re-Elected.

I have had my eye on this film for a few months. Here is the official synopsis:

There has never been any love lost between siblings Nate and Angela, so when they decide to throw a joint 4th of July party the worst they’re expecting is a family squabble. Resurrecting the dead was certainly not on the itinerary, but as the beer begins to flow things take a turn for the…patriotic. A series of bizarre events leads to an undead Washington, Lincoln, and Jackson joining their celebration, sending the party into chaos. As the blood starts spilling the siblings must put their rivalry aside to make it through the night.

Well if that just doesn’t sound insane I don’t know what does. Zombie presidents brutally murdering scores of party-goers is something we need in the world. On June 29th we’ll all be able to see this idea come to fruition. Just in time for the 4th of July holiday! If you don’t celebrate the 4th of July(like most of the world), then all the more reason to watch Re-Elected!
