Ridley Scott Producing The Boston Strangler

How did you survive the 2021 Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp blackout? I didn’t know about it till it was over lol, because my internet was out since sometime Sunday night. Internet was out meaning no streaming, Phone had 1 bar if the sky is clear, so I powered up my DVD. I sat and watched the original Halloween trilogy: 1, 2, and H2O. But that is the price you pay for living in a National Forest. Anyway, back to the news.

A new movie is coming our way about the true story of the Boston Strangler, produced by Ridley Scott for 20th Century Studios. Matt Ruskin (“Crown Heights”) will write and direct, with Keira Knightley set to star. For those who are not familiar with the Boston Strangler, here is a short description.  The Boston Strangler is the name given to the murderer of 13 women in the Boston, Massachusetts, area during the early 1960s. The crimes were attributed to Albert DeSalvo based on his confession, details revealed in court during a separate case, and DNA evidence linking him to the final victim. In the years following DeSalvo's conviction – but prior to the emergence of this DNA evidence – various parties investigating the crimes suggested that the murders (sometimes referred to as the "Silk Stocking Murders") were committed by more than one person.

The synopsis for the film goes as followed: Knightley will portray Loretta McLaughlin, who was the first reporter to connect the murders and break the story of the Strangler. She and fellow reporter Jean Cole challenged the sexism of the early ’60s to report on the city’s most notorious serial killer and worked tirelessly to keep women informed. McLaughlin pursued the story at great personal risk and uncovered corruption that cast doubt on the true identity of the Boston Strangler.

According to 20th Century, the release is sometime in 2022.
