If you haven’t heard, AMC is creating an Interview With the Vampire series.  And according they have named Sam Reid to star as Lestat.

The actor currently stars in the Australian series The Newsreader. His most notable film roles to date include Belle, Anonymous, and ‘71. But I only know him from the Hatfields & McCoys miniseries from 2012. But from pics like these from Whitechapel and Belle, he has the look.

What makes this big news is the fact that this could extend to a long-term contract for Reid. AMC already owns the rights to the entire Vampire Chronicles universe, and talk from the studio seems to be actively pursuing the franchise from multiple angles. While Interview With The Vampire is the only show in production at the moment, rumors have indicated that other series and films could be in the pipeline for AMC.

Interview with the Vampire is a classic gothic horror property dating back to the 1976 novel by Anne Rice about a vampire named Louis de Pointe du Lac, who tells the story of his life to a reporter. Since publishing it has become a whole series of books, two films, a stage show, and other various adaptations. The new show will be executively produced, in part, by Anne Rice and her son Christopher Rice.

Interview with the Vampire will span eight episodes and will debut in 2022 on both AMC and AMC Plus.
